Balik-Terrorism: The Return of the Abu Sayyaf, by Dr. Zachary Abuza. The author provides an in-depth analysis of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) and the triangular relationship between it, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and Jemaah Islamiyah (JI). He seeks to clarify the regional impact of ASG's resurgence on the war on terror in Southeast Asia, and the effect on America and her allies.

Natural Allies? Regional Security in Asia and Prospects for Indo-American Strategic Cooperation, by Dr. Stephen Blank. This monograph seeks to illuminate India's rising power and capabilities with regard to the key regions on its periphery: the Persian Gulf, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia. The author also considers the major issues pertaining to India's bilateral defense agenda with the United States. By revealing the dimensions of India's growing capabilities and interests, he also provides a strategic rationale for the development of the partnership to date and for its further evolution.

News and Updates
SSI hosted a visit by the Director of the Graduate School of Political Management, George Washington University, for briefings and discussions on teaching political and military strategy.

Dr. Blank attended a meeting with the National Bureau of Asian Research to launch the publication of their annual book Strategic Asia. The 2005-2006 volume is devoted to the topic of military modernization in Asia and Dr. Blank wrote the chapter on Russia.

Dr. Biddle lectured on his book, Military Power: Explaining Victory and Defeat in Modern Battle (Princeton University Press, 2004), at the 2005 Australian Chief of Army Conference, Canberra Australia.
