Adjunct Professors

SSI offers adjunct professorships to select LTCs or COLs in the Army National Guard (ARNG), U.S. Army Reserve (USAR), retired active component, and civilian scholars and practitioners. These are research positions with no teaching. The successful candidate will possess qualifications as outlined in Carlisle Barracks Memorandum 351-5 and will have the opportunity to advance his or her own research agenda while simultaneously producing SSI studies on relevant strategic topics which will be distributed to military leaders, government officials, civilian academics, and the global strategic community. While SSI may be able to provide some research support for projects by adjunct professors, these are honorific, unpaid positions.

Unsolicited Submissions

If you are affiliated with the U.S. military, the U.S. Government, or not-for-profit consulting firms we are able to make your research available, but it is non-compensated and may or may not be an official SSI monograph. Submissions must be a response to one or more topics found in our annual Key Strategic Issues List. Researchers interested in submitting unsolicited manuscripts to be considered for publication must first send a resume/curriculum vitae to the Strategic Research and Analysis Department Director, along with an abstract describing the paper's main argument and methodology as well as how the manuscript adds to the existing knowledge of the subject.
