Dr. Mark R. Shulman

Photo MARK R. SHULMAN is Assistant Dean for Graduate Programs and International Affiliations and an Adjunct Professor of Law at Pace Law School. Previously, he has taught at Yale University, Columbia University’s schools of Law and International and Public Affairs, and at the U.S. Air War College. In addition, he has conducted studies on behalf of the National Defense University, the U.S. Army War College, and the U.S. Naval War College. He has held appointments and published widely in the fields of history, international affairs, and law. Dr. Shulman has edited The Laws of War: Constraints on Warfare in the Western World with the eminent military historian Sir Michael Howard and George Andreopoulos, and edited another volume on General Telford Taylor and the prosecution of war crimes. He studied history at Yale College, where he received his BA, and Oxford University, where he earned a master’s degree in the history of the British Empire. Dr. Shulman completed his Ph.D. at the University of California at Berkeley, where he wrote Navalism and the Emergence of American Sea Power, 1882-1893. He also graduated from the Columbia University School of Law where he was editor-in-chief of the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law.
